🌿 Cluster Bean Seed Sowing Guide

Soil requirement: Grows best in light sandy loam to clay loam soil with good drainage. pH 7–8 (tolerates slightly alkaline soil).

Soil preparation: Plough 2–3 times, apply FYM/compost (8–10 tons/acre) for good fertility.

Sowing season:

Kharif (main season): June–July (with monsoon)

Summer: Feb–March (with irrigation)

In South India, can also be sown in Sept–Oct.

Seed rate: 4–6 kg per acre.

Seed treatment: Treat seeds with Rhizobium culture for better nitrogen fixation and yield.

Sowing method:

Line sowing or dibbling method.

Row spacing: 45 cm

Plant spacing: 15–20 cm

Depth: 2–3 cm

Irrigation: Needs light irrigation after sowing, then every 10–12 days. Avoid waterlogging.

Germination: 5–7 days.

Harvesting: Ready in 60–75 days for vegetable type (green pods).
