🌿 Vinca Seed Sowing Guide

Soil requirement: Light, well-drained sandy loam soil enriched with compost. Avoid waterlogging.

Sowing season:

Best: Jan–May (warm season crop)

In South India: Can be sown almost year-round, except in heavy monsoon.

Seed rate: ~ 100–150 g per acre.

Seed treatment: No major treatment needed, but soaking in water for 2–4 hrs helps quick germination.

Sowing method:

Sow in nursery trays or seedbeds first.

Cover seeds lightly with fine soil/vermiculite (they need darkness for germination).

Keep soil moist (not wet).

Germination: Takes 7–10 days.

Transplanting: After 4–6 weeks, when seedlings have 4–5 leaves, transplant them into pots/beds.

Spacing: 25–30 cm apart.

Sunlight: Needs full sun for best flowering.

Watering: Moderate – drought tolerant, but regular watering improves flowering.

Flowering: Begins in 2–3 months and continues almost year-round.
