๐ฟ Vinca Seed Sowing Guide
Soil requirement: Light, well-drained sandy loam soil enriched with compost. Avoid waterlogging.
Sowing season:
Best: JanโMay (warm season crop)
In South India: Can be sown almost year-round, except in heavy monsoon.
Seed rate: ~ 100โ150 g per acre.
Seed treatment: No major treatment needed, but soaking in water for 2โ4 hrs helps quick germination.
Sowing method:
Sow in nursery trays or seedbeds first.
Cover seeds lightly with fine soil/vermiculite (they need darkness for germination).
Keep soil moist (not wet).
Germination: Takes 7โ10 days.
Transplanting: After 4โ6 weeks, when seedlings have 4โ5 leaves, transplant them into pots/beds.
Spacing: 25โ30 cm apart.
Sunlight: Needs full sun for best flowering.
Watering: Moderate โ drought tolerant, but regular watering improves flowering.
Flowering: Begins in 2โ3 months and continues almost year-round.
